Description
NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown collected raw underway biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data from 2020-10-10 to 2021-03 30 in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, North Atlantic, and North Pacific. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere interactions based on underway meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing marine biological patterns in relation to navigational and optical conditions.
Studying temporal and spatial variability in oceanographic parameters from the time series data.
Correlating ship-track navigational data with concurrent biological and physical measurements.
Strengths
Data spans a 5-month cruise from October 2020 to March 2021.
Includes multiple data domains: biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
