Description
The Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean are the regions for this collection of raw underway data logged aboard NOAA Ship Pisces from October 16 to November 27, 2017. It includes biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data submitted by the Office of Marine and Aviation Operations. The data were archived by the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program and are managed by the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
Use Cases
Modeling oceanographic conditions based on the described physical and profile data.
Analyzing marine ecosystem dynamics based on the described biological data.
Studying regional weather patterns based on the described meteorological data.
Investigating ship track influence based on the described navigational and time series data.
Strengths
Data collection spans a defined 43-day cruise from 2017-10-16 to 2017-11-27.
Includes multiple data types (biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, time series) from a single platform.
Data and metadata were submitted via an automated process under the NOAA R2R program.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
