Description
NOAA Ship Pisces collected raw underway biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile and time series data in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2017-10-09 to 2017-10-13. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The archive also includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log, processed through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere interactions based on meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing marine biological activity patterns based on biological and optical measurements.
Studying ship-track environmental profiles based on profile and time series data.
Correlating vessel navigation with environmental conditions based on navigational data.
Strengths
Data spans multiple oceanographic domains: biological, meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Collected via an automated archiving process under the NOAA R2R program.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
