Description
NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2019-10-15 to 2019-11 12. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted these data and supplementary cruise-level metadata to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere heat and gas exchange based on underway meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental conditions based on logged navigational and time series data.
Studying optical properties of seawater in the Gulf of Mexico based on optical data mentioned in the description.
Correlating cruise activities with environmental measurements based on supplementary Ship Daily Activity Log metadata.
Strengths
Data collection spans a 29-day period from 2019-10-15 to 2019-11-12.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Data archived through an established NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
