Description
NOAA Ship Nancy Foster collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and North Atlantic Ocean from 2015-05-10 to 2016-05-30. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and associated metadata to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The automated archiving process was developed under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling regional weather patterns based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and track patterns based on navigational data.
Studying ocean optical properties based on optical sensor data.
Investigating physical oceanographic conditions based on physical sensor time series.
Strengths
Data collection spans over a year from May 2015 to May 2016.
Covers three major ocean regions: Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and North Atlantic Ocean.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Last updated 2016-05-30 00:00:00; freshness should be verified.
