Description
NOAA Ship Nancy Foster collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2013-04-26 to 2013-06-01. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log to NODC. The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) automated process.
Use Cases
Modeling marine weather patterns based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and track patterns based on logged navigational data.
Studying ocean optical properties based on the optical data mentioned.
Correlating physical oceanographic variables with time and location from the time series.
Strengths
Data includes multiple concurrent measurement types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL).
Collected over a defined 37-day period from 2013-04-26 to 2013-06-01.
