Description
NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2018-05-08 to 2018-05-18. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) personnel submitted the data, which was archived by the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program through NCEI. The dataset also includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL).
Use Cases
Analyze atmospheric conditions based on the meteorological data mentioned in the description
Study ship navigation and track patterns based on the navigational data mentioned in the description
Correlate optical and physical ocean properties based on the time series data mentioned in the description
Model oceanographic processes in the Gulf of Mexico based on the geographic scope and data types
Strengths
Data collected over a specific 11-day period from 2018-05-08 to 2018 05-18
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL)
Archived through the established NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program
