Description
NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data in the North Atlantic Ocean from October 2 to 6, 2018. The data were logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System and submitted to the National Centers for Environmental Information under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program. This accession also includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological conditions with oceanographic readings based on the described underway physical data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental sensor readings based on the logged navigational and time series data.
Modeling short-term oceanic and atmospheric interactions in a specific region based on the five-day, geographically focused collection.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NOAA research vessel, the Okeanos Explorer.
Collection includes multiple data streams (meteorological, navigational, optical, physical) logged simultaneously.
Covers a specific five-day time range (2018-10-02 to 2018-10-06) in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
