Description
The Gulf of Alaska is the geographic scope for this raw underway dataset collected aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson from 2013-03-14 to 2013-03-28. It contains meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System (SCS). The data and supplementary cruise-level metadata were submitted by NOAA's Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel and archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere interactions based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing vessel navigation patterns based on logged navigational data.
Studying seawater optical properties based on optical sensor data.
Correlating physical oceanographic measurements with time and location.
Strengths
Data collection occurred over a defined 15-day period from 2013-03 14 to 2013-03-28.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL).
Data was archived via an automated process under the NOAA R2R program, suggesting a standardized workflow.
