Description
NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data in the North Pacific Ocean from June 13 to June 22, 2016. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The dataset also includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log, archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere heat and moisture fluxes based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and track patterns in the North Pacific Ocean based on navigational logs.
Studying short-term environmental variability based on the 10-day time series of physical and optical measurements.
Validating satellite-derived oceanographic products based on in-situ physical data collected from the ship.
Strengths
Data collected over a specific 10-day period from June 13 to June 22, 2016.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Data archived through the established NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
