Description
NOAA NCEI Accession 0164433 contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted these data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log. The data were collected in the North Pacific Ocean from April 18 to May 2, 2017, and archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere interactions based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental conditions based on navigational and physical data.
Studying temporal variability in oceanographic parameters based on the time series nature of the data.
Correlating optical measurements with other physical observations logged during the cruise.
Strengths
Data includes multiple measurement types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Data collection period is precisely defined from 2017-04-18 to 2017-05 02.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
