Description
NCEI Accession 0173641 contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted these data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log. The data were collected in the North Pacific Ocean from April 15 to May 7, 2018, and archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere heat and gas exchange based on underway meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental conditions based on logged navigational and optical data.
Studying temporal variability in marine parameters based on the time series nature of the data collection.
Validating satellite-derived oceanographic products based on in-situ physical measurements.
Strengths
Data collection is supported by a documented automated archiving process under the NOAA R2R program.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Covers a specific 23-day period from 2018-04-15 to 2018-05 07.
Limitations
