Description
Underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data were collected aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette in the North Pacific Ocean from 2019-05-15 to 2019-06 11. The data were logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System (SCS) and submitted to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel. Supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log is also included.
Use Cases
Analyze meteorological trends over time based on the time series and meteorological data mentioned in the description.
Correlate navigational data with physical oceanographic measurements for route analysis.
Validate ship-based optical sensor readings against other environmental variables.
Study the temporal and spatial coverage of a specific NOAA research cruise in the North Pacific.
Strengths
Data collection spans a continuous 28-day period from May 15 to June 11, 2019.
Includes multiple data types (meteorological, navigational, optical, physical) logged from a single, consistent platform (the ship's SCS).
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
