Description
NOAA Ship Pisces collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from 2013-04-05 to 2013-06 07. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and associated metadata to NODC as part of the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program. The dataset includes supplementary cruise-level metadata logged in the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological conditions with oceanographic data based on the described time series.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns in relation to physical ocean data based on the logged navigational information.
Studying optical properties of seawater in a specific geographic region based on the described optical data.
Validating automated data archiving processes for underway ship data based on the NOAA R2R program description.
Strengths
Data collected over a two-month period from 2013-04-05 to 2013-06-07, providing a continuous time series.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical, logged by a Scientific Computer System.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
