Description
NOAA Ship Reuben Lasker collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the North Pacific Ocean from 2017-03-21 to 2017-04-22. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through the automated NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling marine weather patterns based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and track data for oceanographic research vessel operations.
Studying physical oceanographic properties from the described time series measurements.
Integrating optical sensor data with meteorological observations for environmental monitoring.
Strengths
Data spans a focused 33-day cruise in the North Pacific Ocean, providing a continuous temporal snapshot.
Includes multiple data types logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System, suggesting integrated measurements.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log for context.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
