Description
Raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data logged aboard NOAA Ship Reuben Lasker. The data were collected in the North Pacific Ocean from August 17 to December 2, 2017, and submitted to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by the Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO). The automated archiving process was developed under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological conditions with oceanographic measurements based on the described multi-sensor data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental conditions in the North Pacific Ocean based on the logged navigational and time series data.
Validating satellite-derived oceanographic data using in-situ physical and optical measurements collected from the research vessel.
Strengths
Data collection spans a continuous 3.5-month period from August to December 2017.
Includes multiple data types (meteorological, navigational, optical, physical) logged from a single research platform.
Data and supplementary cruise-level metadata were submitted through an automated NOAA R2R program process.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
