Description
Raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data logged by the Scientific Computer System aboard NOAA Ship Reuben Lasker. The data was collected in the North Pacific Ocean from October 1 to November 7, 2019 and submitted to the National Centers for Environmental Information by Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel. Supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log is also included.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean surface conditions based on meteorological and navigational data.
Analyzing temporal patterns in physical oceanographic properties from the time series data.
Correlating optical measurements with other environmental variables for water quality studies.
Validating satellite-derived ocean data with in-situ ship-based measurements.
Strengths
Data collection spans a specific 38-day period from 2019-10-01 to 2019-11 07.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
