Description
NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical time series data in the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, and Timor Sea from June 16 to July 22, 2018. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log. The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) automated process.
Use Cases
Modeling marine weather patterns based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and track data for oceanographic research vessel operations.
Studying optical and physical ocean properties from time series measurements.
Integrating cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log for expedition analysis.
Strengths
Data collection spans a specific 37-day cruise from 2018-06-16 to 2018-07-22.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical measurements.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL).
Archived through an automated process under the NOAA R2R program, suggesting standardized collection.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
