Description
NCEI Accession 0167272 contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical data logged by the Scientific Computer System aboard NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown. The data were collected in the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and North Atlantic Ocean from July 18 to August 22, 2017. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and associated metadata under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere heat and gas exchange based on underway meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental conditions based on logged navigational data.
Studying temporal variability in oceanic parameters based on the time series nature of the data.
Calibrating satellite-derived oceanographic measurements using in-situ optical data.
Strengths
Data collection spans a defined 36-day cruise from July 18 to August 22, 2017.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, and physical.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Limitations
