Description
NCEI Accession 0164782 contains raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data logged by the Scientific Computer System aboard NOAA Ship Bell M. Shimada. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted these data collected in the Coastal Waters of Southeast Alaska and British Columbia and the North Pacific Ocean from June 19 to September 14, 2017. The dataset also includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log, archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling coastal oceanographic conditions based on the described physical profile data.
Analyzing meteorological trends over the North Pacific Ocean based on the described underway meteorological data.
Studying ship navigation patterns and environmental interactions based on the described navigational and time series data.
Correlating optical measurements with physical ocean properties based on the described optical and physical data.
Strengths
Data collection spans a nearly three-month cruise from 2017-06-19 to 2017-09-14.
Integrates multiple data types including meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Data archived through an automated process under the NOAA R2R program.
