Description
NOAA Ship Bell M. Shimada collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the North Pacific Ocean from 2016-05 14 to 2016-05-28. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and associated metadata to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological conditions with oceanographic profiles based on the described data types.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns in relation to physical ocean measurements.
Modeling time series of optical properties in the North Pacific Ocean.
Validating automated data logging and archival processes for scientific cruises.
Strengths
Contains multiple data types logged by a ship's Scientific Computer System.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
