Description
Underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data collected aboard NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter. The data was logged by the Scientific Computer System (SCS) in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from July 10 to July 18, 2018. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata to NCEI via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling marine weather patterns based on underway meteorological data.
Analyzing ship navigation and environmental conditions based on logged navigational and optical data.
Studying oceanographic profiles and time series for physical oceanography research.
Correlating cruise-level events with sensor readings based on supplementary Ship Daily Activity Log metadata.
Strengths
Data covers a specific 9-day cruise from July 10 to July 18, 2018.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Data collection follows an automated archiving process under the NOAA R2R program.
