Description
NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the Gulf of Mexico from October 19 to 29, 2012. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel aboard the ship submitted the data and associated metadata to the National Oceanographic Data Center. The data were archived through an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological and physical oceanographic conditions based on the multiple data types logged.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns and environmental sensor readings based on the underway data.
Studying time-series trends in optical and physical properties of Gulf of Mexico waters.
Validating automated data archiving and submission workflows for research vessels.
Strengths
Data includes multiple complementary types: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Collected over a specific 11-day period from 2012-10-19 to 2012-10-29.
