Description
Underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data collected aboard NOAA Ship Oregon II. The data were logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System (SCS) in the Gulf of Mexico and North Atlantic Ocean from July 26 to September 30, 2017. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and associated metadata to the National Centers for Environmental Information.
Use Cases
Modeling marine weather patterns based on underway meteorological data
Analyzing ship navigation and track data for operational research
Studying oceanographic profiles and time series for physical property changes
Correlating optical measurements with other environmental variables
Strengths
Data collection spans a specific 66-day cruise from July 26 to September 30, 2017
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series
Data submitted through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) automated archiving program
