Description
NOAA Ship Oregon II collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the Gulf of Mexico from 2017-06-05 to 2017-06 07. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data, which was logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System and archived via the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program. The accession includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Use Cases
Correlating meteorological conditions with oceanographic profiles based on the described physical and profile data.
Analyzing ship navigation patterns in relation to environmental sampling based on the navigational and time series data.
Studying optical properties of Gulf of Mexico waters based on the mentioned optical data.
Validating automated data logging and archival processes for research vessels based on the NOAA R2R program description.
Strengths
Data spans multiple domains: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, and profile, collected simultaneously.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Collected via an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program, suggesting standardized formatting.
