Description
NOAA Ship Oregon II collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the Gulf of Mexico from 2017-10-10 to 2017-11 21. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling sea surface temperature and atmospheric conditions based on underway physical and meteorological data.
Analyzing ship track patterns and navigation based on logged navigational data.
Studying temporal variability in oceanographic parameters based on the time series data mentioned in the description.
Correlating optical measurements with other physical oceanographic profiles.
Strengths
Data collection spans a focused 43-day period in a specific geographic region, the Gulf of Mexico.
Includes supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log, providing operational context.
Data were archived through an established, automated process under the NOAA R2R program.
