Description
Underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data collected aboard NOAA Ship Oregon II in the Gulf of Mexico from June 6 to July 19, 2019. The data were logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System (SCS) and submitted to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel as part of the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Analyze meteorological trends in the Gulf of Mexico based on underway meteorological data.
Study oceanographic profiles and physical properties based on profile and physical data.
Model ship navigation and its environmental context based on navigational data.
Correlate optical measurements with other environmental variables based on optical data.
Conduct time-series analysis of marine conditions during the 2019 cruise period.
Strengths
Data collection spans a specific 44-day period from 2019-06-06 to 2019-07 19.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log (SDAL) is included.
Data originates from a NOAA research vessel and is archived via the NOAA R2R program.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
