Description
NOAA Ship Oregon II collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the Gulf of Mexico from October 9 to November 22, 2019. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data logged by the ship's Scientific Computer System and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log. The data were archived through the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Modeling ocean-atmosphere interactions based on underway meteorological and physical data.
Analyzing temporal environmental trends based on the time series data collected over the cruise.
Studying regional oceanographic profiles based on the physical and profile data mentioned.
Correlating ship navigation with environmental sensor readings based on the navigational and optical data.
Strengths
Data covers a specific 45-day cruise from 2019-10-09 to 2019-11-22.
Includes multiple data types: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log provides supplementary context.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
