Description
NOAA Ship Pisces collected raw underway meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series data in the North Atlantic Ocean from 2017-06-20 to 2017-07 06. Office of Marine and Aviation Operations personnel submitted the data and supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log to the National Centers for Environmental Information. The data were archived through an automated process under the NOAA Rolling Deck to Repository program.
Use Cases
Correlate atmospheric conditions with oceanographic profiles based on the described meteorological and physical data.
Analyze ship navigation patterns and their environmental context based on the navigational and time series data.
Model short-term oceanographic phenomena in a specific region based on the 17-day time series and profile data.
Validate satellite-derived oceanographic measurements using the in-situ optical and physical data mentioned.
Strengths
Data covers a specific 17-day voyage from 2017-06-20 to 2017-07-06.
Includes multiple data streams: meteorological, navigational, optical, physical, profile, and time series.
Contains supplementary cruise-level metadata from the Ship Daily Activity Log.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
