Description
Yukon Geological Survey's mineral potential maps cover the Beaver River watershed, Dawson, Teslin, Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, and Ross River regions. The update paper describes methodological improvements, including a new unsupervised machine learning algorithm for classification and lithology-based stream sediment anomaly detection. The maps are produced by the Government of Yukon and incorporate measures of bedrock mapping confidence.
Use Cases
Generate mineral exploration targets based on machine learning-derived potential categories.
Assess land-use planning scenarios based on maps containing bedrock mapping confidence measures.
Identify anomalous stream sediment data for prospecting based on lithology-adjusted assay values.
Evaluate mineral potential mapping methodologies based on described fuzzy logic buffer modifications.
Strengths
Methodology incorporates an unsupervised machine learning algorithm to reduce human bias.
