Uruguay Arterial Road Surface and Passability Data (2020-2024)

Giving access to AI-derived attributes for approximately 8,700 km of arterial roads in Uruguay, produced by HeiGIT using PlanetScope satellite imagery from 2020 and 2024. It maps road surface types, width classifications, and logistical accessibility for segments classified in OpenStreetMap as motorway, trunk, primary, and secondary roads.

Use Cases

• Identifying segments capable of supporting two-lane heavy truck traffic using the 'Road Width Class' (Class 3)
• Assessing logistical constraints for humanitarian response using the 'Humanitarian Passability Index (HPI)'

Strengths

• High surface model accuracy of 89.2% compared to 64.7% for standard OSM tags
