Description
1,122 observations detail net pay after federal, state, and payroll taxes for the 2026 tax year. The data is computed by the StateTakeHome engine using official IRS, SSA, and state Department of Revenue publications, including 2026 legislative changes. Figures are provided for 11 gross income levels from $30,000 to $250,000 and two filing statuses across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Use Cases
Compare state-level tax burdens based on the computed effective and marginal tax rates.
Model household disposable income for economic research based on the detailed tax breakdowns.
Benchmark personal finance tools against the deterministic, jurisdiction-agnostic tax calculations.
Analyze the impact of specific 2026 state tax law changes, such as Georgia H.B. 111, on net pay.
Strengths
Data covers 1,122 specific scenarios across 51 jurisdictions, 11 income levels, and 2 filing statuses.
Tax calculations are sourced from official publications with an explicit 2026 vintage, including noted legislative updates.
The methodology is documented and deterministic, with per-jurisdiction inputs like brackets and standard deductions clearly sourced.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is a static projection for 2026 and does not include historical years for trend analysis.
Row count for the full dataset is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
