50 Sirius diamict samples were analyzed using micromorphology and bulk texture techniques to determine the character of previous glacial overriding in the Allan Hills nunatak. The dataset includes samples from 40 different sites, all triangulated, photographed, and described, with comparative tillite samples from Mt Feather. The data was collected by SCIOPS and last updated in December 2001.
Use Cases
- Classifying glacial sediment textures based on bulk texture analysis data.
- Modeling historical glacial regimes based on quantified glacio-tectonised bedrock features.
- Comparing glacial deformation events using strike and dip measurements from fractures.
- Training models to identify glacial overriding signatures from micromorphology sample descriptions.
Strengths
- Includes 50 Sirius diamict samples analyzed with paired micromorphology and bulk texture techniques.
- Covers 40 distinct, triangulated, photographed, and described field sites.
- Provides comparative data from high-elevation Sirius Group tillites at Mt Feather.
Limitations
- Last updated 2001-12-22 23:59:59.999000; freshness should be verified.
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
