Description
93 older adults aged 60-89 wore thigh-mounted accelerometers for seven days to measure engagement in sedentary behavior, standing, and physical activity. The dataset includes fasting blood measurements for glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, HbA1c, LPL, IL-6, and PIIINP, analyzed via isotemporal substitution models. It was authored by Declan Ryan and last updated on 2026-05-28.
Use Cases
Modeling the effect of replacing sedentary time with standing on total cholesterol based on isotemporal substitution results.
Predicting triglyceride concentration changes from substituting moderate-to-vigorous physical activity for lighter activities.
Analyzing associations between physical behavior intensities and inflammatory markers like interleukin-6 (IL-6).
Investigating the relationship between bouted physical activity (10MVPA) and cardio-metabolic biomarkers.
Strengths
Includes data from 93 participants with a defined age range of 60-89 years.
Contains objectively measured physical behavior from thigh-mounted accelerometers over seven consecutive days.
Measures seven distinct fasting blood biomarkers relevant to cardio-metabolic health.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The sample size of 93 participants may limit the generalizability of findings.
