Description
Unpublished primary data for height and sitting height were transcribed from historical records of schoolchildren attending summer camps organized by the Spanish National Pedagogic Museum between 1887 and 1924. The data were validated, filtered, and pooled according to children's age and year of measurement. This work assesses secular change in the cormic index, comparing these historical records to later studies up to the present.
Use Cases
Analyze secular trends in the cormic index based on historical and contemporary anthropometric data mentioned in the description
Study child development and growth patterns in Spain based on data collected from summer camp attendees between 1887 and 1924
Compare body proportion changes across different populations and time periods based on the pooled and validated historical records
Strengths
Data spans a significant historical period from 1887 to 1924
Primary data was transcribed from archival sources and underwent validation and filtering processes
Analysis includes comparison with more contemporary published data from national and international populations
