Description
Point features mark photo center locations for a forest inventory project in Whitehorse. The inventory fieldwork was conducted in the winter of 2004/2005, with project delivery in October 2005. Delineation was based on 1:10,000 scale black and white photography from 2001.
Use Cases
Map the spatial distribution of photo center points for forest inventory validation.
Analyze the relationship between photo point locations and newly available DTM (Digital Terrain Model) data.
Use the point features as ground reference for interpreting the 2001 1:10,000 scale photography.
Strengths
Data is based on 1:10,000 scale aerial photography for detailed delineation.
Project incorporates new mapping and a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) derived from the photography.
Fieldwork was conducted over a defined period (winter 2004/2005) with a clear delivery date (October 2005).
Limitations
Data is temporally stale, representing a snapshot from fieldwork in 2004/2005.
Specific attributes (columns) and the total number of point features are unknown.
The underlying photography is black and white, limiting spectral analysis compared to color imagery.
