Description
Offering dekadal NDVI indicators for Venezuela's sub-national administrative units, derived from NASA MODIS collection 6.1 satellite imagery. Maintained by the World Food Programme, the data tracks vegetation health through 10-day indices, long-term averages, and percentage anomalies updated through March 2026.
Use Cases
Monitoring agricultural health by comparing current vim against the vim_lta baseline
Identifying drought conditions using the viq anomaly percentage
Spatial analysis of vegetation trends across Venezuela using Pcode references
Strengths
Uses NASA MODIS collection 6.1 high-resolution satellite data
Includes n_pixels column to quantify the observation density of each aggregate
Provides vim_lta for direct historical baseline comparison
Limitations
Aggregated at the sub-national level, which masks local vegetation variations within administrative units
Satellite-derived NDVI values are sensitive to cloud cover interference
Provenance
Source
World Food Programme (WFP) using NASA MODIS collection 6.1
Collection Method
Satellite sensor aggregation from Aqua and Terra platforms
Freshness
Updated as of March 2026.
Geography
Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)
