An initial quantification of building debris from the June 2026 earthquake across the most-affected Venezuelan states estimates 96,046 damaged or destroyed buildings. The assessment was produced by the UNEP/OCHA Joint Environment Unit using multi-sensor synthetic aperture radar change-detection, rapid building damage assessments, and visual verification. Results were aggregated into a 7.8 sq. km hexagon grid for modeling and visualization.
