Description
Labour relations data for Venice from the Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations 1500-2000 Dataset. An abridged version created in October 2020 includes only records containing labour relations, with data cleaning, separation of male and female individuals, and removal of duplicate records. The aggregated number of people mentioned in these updated datasets should equal the total population.
Use Cases
Analyzing the composition of the labour force based on the separation of male and female individuals mentioned in the description
Studying long-term changes in labour relations over the 1500-1800 period
Comparing Venetian labour structures with other regions using the broader Global Collaboratory dataset framework
Strengths
Data underwent cleaning and deduplication as part of an October 2020 update
Explicitly separates male and female individuals, enabling gender-based analysis
Part of a larger, standardized international historical dataset (Global Collaboratory)
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
