Description
Voyager 2 spacecraft electric field waveform samples collected by the Plasma Wave Subsystem throughout its entire mission. The data set includes observations from cruise phases before, between, and after encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, as well as data from those encounter phases. Data after March 7, 2006 will be added to the archive on subsequent volumes.
Use Cases
Analyzing plasma wave phenomena based on electric field waveform samples
Studying planetary magnetospheres based on encounter phase observations
Investigating the interstellar medium based on cruise phase data
Comparing plasma wave activity across different planetary encounters
Strengths
Data spans the entire Voyager 2 mission, including four planetary encounters
Includes waveform observations from all cruise and encounter mission phases
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Data collected by the Voyager 2 Plasma Wave Subsystem waveform receiver.
Time Range
From mission launch through encounters with Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, with data after 2006-03-07 to be added.
