Description
HeiGIT produced these risk assessment indicators for Vietnam at the district level (admin level 2) to facilitate flood and cyclone hazard analysis. The dataset integrates demographic, environmental, and infrastructure data from WorldPop, OpenStreetMap, and Google Earth Engine. It provides eight thematic layers covering accessibility, facilities, coping capacity, and hazard exposure.
Use Cases
Identifying vulnerable populations by analyzing elderly and children_u5 counts in districts with high flood_exposure
Evaluating healthcare reach using access_pop_primary_healthcare_30min to identify gaps in emergency medical access
Resource allocation based on education_count and hospitals_count per administrative district
Strengths
Aggregates data from WorldPop, OpenStreetMap, and Google Earth Engine
Provides specific travel-time accessibility metrics like access_pop_hospitals_30min
Uses standardized HDX COD-AB administrative boundaries for ADM2_PCODE
Limitations
Facility counts like education_count are dependent on OpenStreetMap completeness which varies by region
Coping capacity is a composite indicator derived from other layers rather than a primary measurement
Provenance
Source
HeiGIT (Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology) via the GAIA Pipeline
Collection Method
Aggregated from secondary sources including WorldPop, OpenStreetMap, and Google Earth Engine via automated processing
