Global satellite data from the NOAA-20 satellite's VIIRS instrument provides near real-time detection of active fires at a 375-meter spatial resolution. The algorithm uses five 375m and complementary 750m spectral channels to identify fire pixels and separate them from land, water, and cloud backgrounds, offering improved mapping of both small fires and large fire perimeters. This Level 2 product is formatted as NetCDF4 files and is distributed through NASA's LANCE system for fire management and scientific applications.
License is noted as 'other-license-specified' on some platforms; users should verify specific terms. Data is provided as NetCDF4 files with complementary ASCII fire pixel lists.
