Description
165,780 data points of volumetric water content, water level, and pressure were collected at five-minute intervals during the 2022 debris-flow season from May to October. The dataset includes measurements from ECH2O EC-5 and TEROS 12 sensors at four depths and a CTD10 sensor for water level, temperature, and conductivity. It is hosted by ENVIDAT and sourced from NASA's Earthdata platform.
Use Cases
Modeling soil moisture infiltration and runoff based on volumetric water content measurements at four depths.
Analyzing debris-flow triggering conditions based on correlated water level and pressure data.
Calibrating hydrological models using high-frequency, in-situ sensor data from a known debris-flow channel.
Studying sensor performance and data continuity issues based on the noted CTD10 malfunction.
Strengths
Contains 165,780 high-frequency data points sampled every five minutes.
Provides multi-depth soil moisture measurements from 0.25m to 0.85m.
Covers a full debris-flow season from May to October 2022.
Includes correlated water level, temperature, and conductivity data from a CTD10 sensor.
Limitations
CTD10 sensor data is incomplete, available only until 27 June 2022 due to a malfunction.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the single Illgraben channel location.
