Description
17 streams in northern Alberta's Utikuma Region Study Area were sampled between 2018 and 2022. The dataset contains water chemistry measurements for major ions, nutrients, dissolved organic carbon, and total dissolved nitrogen, along with in-situ pH, conductivity, temperature, and dissolved organic matter composition data from absorbance and fluorescence. It was authored by Julia Orlova and harvested from the Borealis Dataverse.
Use Cases
Modeling relationships between water chemistry parameters and dissolved organic matter composition based on the described measurements.
Analyzing temporal trends in stream water quality over the 2018–2022 period mentioned in the description.
Characterizing the biogeochemical properties of boreal stream ecosystems based on the suite of collected ions, nutrients, and carbon data.
Strengths
Data collection spans a 5-year period from 2018 to 2022, providing a multi-year time series.
Includes a multi-faceted suite of measurements covering major ions, nutrients, carbon, nitrogen, and in-situ parameters.
Samples were collected from 17 distinct stream sites within a defined study area (URSA).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for specific modeling tasks.
