Description
Marine sediment cores collected near Davis Station, Antarctica, during the summer of 2009/10. The dataset contains concentrations of water-extractable nutrients, including anions and ammonium, analyzed using ion chromatography and colorimetry. The data was produced by the Australian Antarctic Data Centre (AU_AADC) and last updated in March 2010.
Use Cases
Modeling nutrient flux from sediments based on concentrations of anions like nitrate and phosphate.
Assessing the impact of local wastewater treatment on marine chemistry based on ammonium levels.
Calibrating or validating ion chromatography methods for sediment analysis based on the detailed protocol.
Studying seasonal nutrient dynamics in Antarctic coastal waters based on the summer sampling period.
Strengths
Detailed, peer-reviewable laboratory protocols for nutrient extraction and analysis are provided.
