Description
NCEI Accession 0000339 contains water level, pressure, and temperature data collected from fixed platforms in the Gulf of Alaska. The data were submitted by the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, Institute of Marine Science, and California Dept of Fish and Game. Measurements were taken using water level recorders from April 2, 1983, to October 25, 1989.
Use Cases
Analyzing historical sea level trends based on water level recorder data.
Modeling oceanographic conditions based on hydrostatic pressure and temperature measurements.
Calibrating modern oceanographic models with historical baseline data from fixed platforms.
Strengths
Data covers a multi-year period from 1983 to 1989.
Includes three core oceanographic variables: depth, pressure, and water temperature.
Data originates from multiple authoritative institutions, including a university institute and a state agency.
Limitations
