Four days of mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) data from the vessel PONCHATOULA in the Japan Sea, from April 17-20, 1970. The dataset contains processed temperature-depth profile pairs recorded at uniform 5-meter intervals, useful for studying the thermal structure of the ocean's upper layers to a maximum depth of approximately 285 meters. Data was processed by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) to its standard C128 format.
License information is not provided in the available metadata. The dataset's usefulness is confined to studies of the upper ocean thermal structure due to instrument depth limitations.
