Temperature-depth profiles from the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument deployed by the USS Shelton across the Coral Sea, North Pacific, and South Pacific Oceans. The dataset contains observations processed by the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) into the standard C128 format, covering an 18-year period from 1948 to 1966. Data points are recorded at uniform 5-meter depth intervals, with a maximum observation depth of approximately 285 meters.
License information is not provided. The dataset's utility is confined to studying the upper ocean due to the MBT instrument's depth limitation.
