Description
Primary ocean station data for pressure, temperature, and salinity collected during the 29th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (Chinare29) from the icebreaker R/V Xue Long. Observations were taken in the Prydz Bay region from January 31 to March 3, 2013, across the continental shelf and slope to depths up to 3500 meters. The data is stored in a plain text format and is archived by NOAA NCEI.
Use Cases
Modeling oceanographic conditions in Antarctic shelf regions based on temperature and salinity profiles.
Analyzing water column structure and mixing based on pressure, temperature, and salinity data.
Studying seasonal variations in polar oceans based on austral summer observations.
Calibrating remote sensing or regional climate models based on in-situ CTD measurements.
Strengths
Data includes measurements to depths of 3500 meters, covering the continental shelf to slope.
Observations were taken during a dedicated austral summer research expedition (Chinare29).
Temporal coverage is precisely defined from 2013-01-31 to 2013-03-03.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
