1998/99 summer sediment cores from lakes and shallow marine basins in the Windmill Islands, East Antarctic coast. The dataset includes cores with full postglacial records, plus till and pre-glacial sediments, collected for the ASAC1071 project. Cores have been analyzed for palaeoclimate proxies and dated using 14-C and Amino Acid geochronology.
Use Cases
- Reconstructing past climate conditions based on grain size, TOC, and C:N:S proxies mentioned in the description
- Dating sediment layers and establishing chronologies based on 14-C and Amino Acid geochronology data
- Analyzing postglacial environmental changes from recovered marine and lake sediment cores
- Studying the palaeoenvironment of the East Antarctic coast between 50E and 120E as per the project scope
Strengths
- Includes cores with full postglacial records, plus till and pre-glacial sediments
- Cores have been dated using multiple methods: 14-C and Amino Acid geochronology
- Contains data from both lake and shallow marine environments for comparative analysis
Limitations
- Last updated 2002-03-31 23:59:59.999000; freshness should be verified
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
